First birthdays can often be overwhelming, with emotions coursing through you – exhilaration that you made it through the first year alright, deep pride at your little one and their achievements, immense happiness and love for your bub, and then comes the party.
It’s a tough battle between not wanting to be too OTT by spending half your salary on a child’s Pinterest-worthy birthday party, while also recognising the hallmark occasion and celebrating their first “favourite” thing.
When Cleo came to me with this exact dilemma and brought me on board as her Auckland event planner and stylist, we decided we could toe the line between the toe. Create something sweet and stylish, while keeping the focus down-to-earth and on the important stuff.
Little Remy LOVED cows. When he heard a “moo” he would look up in alarm, pointing in it’s direction and saying “moo cow moo cow!” until someone gave in and took him out to the paddock. So it was only natural to pick something so exciting to him, and also relatively simple to replicate for his little party.
Typical Auckland-weather meant that we had to be very cautious of rain, so out came a last minute gazebo to keep everyone dry and the party outdoors as long as possible.
Before birthday cake, we also put on wagon rides for the little ones, which they absolutely loved! Then the cake went down an absolute treat. 😉
Happy first birthday, darling Remy!! We love you.
