A little about me, Steph, the freckled face behind your wedding plans, and the story of how I got here … 😊✨
Ever since I was at school, I have wanted to be a wedding and events planner. When I was growing up, as one of the littlest in our extended family, I went along to half a dozen of my older cousin’s weddings. I adore my extended family and we have always come together to celebrate and enjoy each other’s company.
At these family weddings in particular, the ease in which love and happiness flowed from everyone there is what made me say, “Wouldn’t it be nice to do this forever?”
The pretty details my cousin’s organised also drew my attention – a wool shed entirely cleared out for the party, coloured bunting strung from the roof, hundreds of hand-collected doilies and teacups from op shops, a salvaged door dressed up in flowers for the ceremony, plus pirate hats and swords for a kid’s treasure hunt… All so simple but thoughtful and beautiful.
So that’s what I ventured out into the world to do. For me, at the essence of everything I do, is the strongest desire to be kind and to help. (And to play with pretty things…!)
I have been told by my brides’ parents that while we were planning the wedding, their daughter was also packing and moving house and without my help, she would never have been able to achieve this day – let alone with a friend by her side, handling any stress associated with the planning. Other brides have been studying to finish their medical degree but still wanted their dream wedding in Queenstown, others have been planning a second wedding overseas and so wished they could duplicate me to help with the planning for their wedding back home, too.
I first came to Queenstown as a uni student on summer holidays, wanting to get some real experience in the wedding world. I told all of the different people I met with about how I dreamed of having my own business one day, there was no other option, but I understood the need for experience and growth first. After all, I did still look like a 15-year-old, but at least I would earn a catalogue of 100 weddings to show for myself.
So, here I am now, with my very own baby biz. Three years and 100 weddings later, ready to plan the socks off your special celebration. Luckily for me, I am now working with a dozen absolutely incredible couples to design and plan their weddings – spanning Queenstown, Wanaka and Auckland. I will be jumping up and down when we get to celebrate their special days in the months to come, and shouting from the rooftops when their photos are ready for the world to see.
Continuing the story with some rapid fire facts that you definitely need to know about me… 🤗🤷♀️
– The Remarkable Sweet Shop’s crème brûlée fudge is one of the nicest tasting things in the world.
– I looooove chocolate (especially Kit Kats) but I cannot stomach chocolate desserts or chocolate ice cream.
– I act as if I’m sleep deprived and basically need 9 hours of sleep every night to be able to function.
– I lived in London for eight months while on a student exchange programme at university, it was the best.
– I don’t have a single detail of my own dream wedding planned…it takes two to tango and I believe your celebration should be a reflection of you both! 🙂
So what’s your verdict, will I do? I know that the chocolate ice cream thing will scare at least a few of you off… 🙈
All my love,
Steph 💕💕
