Autumn!
April is my favourite month of the year because with it comes autumn leaves, crisp mornings and soft sunlight. For Queenstown elopements, this colourful display is best in the Otago region so we’re even luckier! Julia booked their elopement over 12 months in advance as she’d seen the magic of autumn in Queenstown and dreamed of something similar for their special day. But the change of season can also bring more unsettled weather, so when the forecast showed strong gusty winds for Julia and Shane, we had to talk about a plan B, just in case.
Luckily for us, fortune favours the bold and my goodness, Julia and Shane are a couple to be reckoned with! The day turned out unbelievably gorgeous for these cool cats and the rustling wind only added to the beautiful, fun and carefree energy they  radiated.
How we rolled
We started the day with a First Look before heading down for some photos in the afternoon light – first at the lakefront and then in a lovely grove of autumn trees. I have already mentioned this wedding party’s mutual love of autumn, right…? 😉
With a golden hour helicopter flight for Julia and Shane to say their vows over an incredible outlook, with two close friends, there really was no better way to spend a Thursday evening to celebrate their wedding. After a sweet and personal ceremony crafted by my pal Philippa Thomas, the two newly-weds popped some bubbles and ambled their way across the long grass for some epic lake views and rocky outcrops. My other half, Warren of Williams Photography snapped the most incredible collection of photos for them to remember the day by. Heading back to town for dinner, we pumped out some epic old school tunes, mostly the Red Hot Chilli Peppers for a perfect finish to Julia and Shane’s day.
Wishing nothing but love, luck and happiness to the happy couple – congratulations Julia and Shane, you did it!!! ♡
