Lena and Rob’s Wanaka elopement to Coromandel Peak was, to put simply, utterly beautiful. These two sweethearts decided run away and get married in the mountains, but of course, still had to share the happy day with some very important people. Lena and Rob are based in Queensland and juggle careers and an incredible kitty that keep them super busy, so I came on board to look after and plan all the details for their New Zealand elopement.
Making Queenstown the base for their holiday, we headed over to Wanaka for the helicopter flight, which offered the perfect opportunity to have a First Look on the Crown Range, overlooking the valley and mountains before the almost-newly-weds jumping in the helicopter. Lena crafted her own silk flower bouquet with reds, berries and pinks and it turned out so well, the brilliant deep colour popping against her incredible Pronovias gown and handmade bridal earrings from Sabina KW Design. Rob was looking totally suave in his navy suit, floral tie and matching silk buttonhole.
From there, we headed to Wanaka and the stunning Clutha River to hang out against the gorgeous turquoise waters and enjoy the outdoors while snapping some beautiful moments. As we were aiming for the golden hour and sunset on Coromandel Peak, we also booked extra time on the mountain so the photo and video team (made up of Kate Drennan Photography and Shotover Wedding Films) could share the space and watch the sun skim lower and lower with its golden rays on the hilltops. The mountains were soaked in warm sun rays and the lake was a brilliant deep blue throughout the ceremony. After family photos, Lena and Rob really go to have some fun and explore around the iconic lookout, enjoy some champagne as the sun burst and of course…there’s always time for a little dancing at dusk!
To finish the evening on a total high, Mother Nature even threw in a super sweet sunset that rolled in from golden to orange, pink and then red…just as Lena had been absolutely dreaming for. So we had one very very happy bride at the end of the day – with a cheese board and donuts to enjoy with family when they got back to Queenstown!! What an absolute dream 😍
